My whole life has led me to this very moment. Excuse my f* bomb in the title – I can’t help myself sometimes…especially when I’m soooo excited for the life that is awaiting you. As Seeking Center’s co-founder, I thought I’d give you a little glimpse into who I am and why you’re here reading these words.
My insatiable need to live life to its fullest began the night of July 6, 1987. I was twelve years old and my 41-year-old father died suddenly of a heart attack. My life changed overnight.
There was an emptiness that couldn’t be filled. A bright flame extinguished in an instant. I could still smell him, yet I could no longer hug him. Mourning became my reality in those first few years after he died.
AND, so was love…strength…and support. They too became my reality.
A new family began to emerge. And a new Robyn began to emerge as well.
I learned at a young age that no day is promised. I also learned the depths of grief, that health must be a priority, the importance of connection (asking for help is imperative too!) and that life needs to be LIVED!
One constant in my life was The Oprah Show. My sister, my mom and I would discuss the Oprah topic of the day each evening. For those that don’t know, it was a time before DVRs, on-demand and a zillion shows at your disposal. It was a time where 15 million people or more would all tune in at the same time on a daily basis. Oprah was the pulse of America.
In high school, I can remember having an extremely vivid dream that I was in Oprah’s office and we were discussing the show topic of the day…little did I know that dream would come true.
In between that dream and actually living the dream, I went to the University of Wisconsin-Madison, met my now husband, helped launch the first on-air + online cable network called Noggin (the baby of Nickelodeon + PBS)…and then started THE job that would become my graduate school, my awakening, and the inspiration for the Whole Living Network.
As Oprah says, “there’s no such thing as luck – it’s when preparation meets opportunity.” In late 1999, Oprah was looking to launch Oprah.com and with both my TV + digital background back at that time, I became one of the first people hired for it. It quickly went from being a marketing site to a business and I ended up running all content and creative. Our team became the hub of a huge wheel that worked with the show, magazine, radio, philanthropy, movies – and we even created our own original content and events. We worked with every person that walked through our doors. You may know people like Dr. Phil, Dr. Oz, Rachel Ray, Nate Berkus, Marianne Wiliamson and many more now everyday names. I would spend most of my days and nights covering and creating programming that would reach millions of people.
And I would have several spiritual awakenings.
I’ll never forget in 2007 when Oprah sat several of us down to say that there was this book that she felt was going to change the way many of us think. She tasked us with figuring out how to translate this book into a life-changing online class — and make weekly discussions live on the web with her and the author for 10 weeks. This hadn’t been done on this scale before. It was my introduction to Eckhart Tolle and Elizabeth Lesser, who would be helping to translate Eckhart’s book, A New Earth.
Eckhart helped me understand my inner voice. He taught me what it really meant to be PRESENT. To be AWARE. He defined Ego in a way that I had never thought of before. For me, the Earth that I knew, really did become a NEW Earth after our work together.
And in addition to Eckhart Tolle, I was able to work one-on-one with other souls that are considered some of the greatest spiritual teachers of our time. I soaked it up. Brene Brown, Iyanla Vanzant, Deepak Chopra and many more.
OH and in the midst of this all-consuming job, I got married and after years of trying, had my miracle daughter, Bella, in June of 2008.
I often call her my “A New Earth” baby. Her coming into this lifetime is a short story worth telling at another time! (Let’s just say it proved to me the power of manifestation.)
And then in 2010, I met Spiritual Medium Rebecca Rosen who changed my life yet again.
She looked like one of my friends. She was about my age and looked “normal.” She didn’t give me any weird “woo woo” vibes.
And, she reconnected me with my father who had passed away all those years ago.
You can read all about my first experiences with Rebecca on Oprah.com, including the synchronicities that led me to her – and the messages she had for me. What I want to highlight here is that it was the first time that I really understood that we NEVER really die.
I knew unequivocally that we just change form…and in my case that my dad had been and is always with me even though I can’t tangibly touch him or see him physically.
From that day on I became ever more curious about what else we can’t see…and what else we need to know and do to live our fullest lives here on Earth.
As the years went by, I became increasingly interested in all things wellness. Mind, body, soul, home, food…the planet. I felt like there was soooo much out there for us to know and almost no trusted resources that pull all of it together, while taking into consideration real, everyday life.
Where my work had always fulfilled this part of my life, it had steadily changed and became less focused on those areas and this was slowly deteriorating me on a soul level. I knew I had to make a major change. For a person who had always felt like I knew my plan, I felt lost.
And then I worked on a project that would lead me to my soul sister and now co-founder of WLN, Karen Loenser. From the time I met Karen in Fall of 2017 to June of 2018, I went through a next level transformation.
At first I thought, “Maybe this project is why I’m still at this current job.”
And then, a series of synchronicities led me to experience several spiritual modalities over just a few months’ time. I met with different practitioners that didn’t know me and didn’t know each other…and yet, they basically all told me the same thing. When you hear similar information (even dates and times!) from people who don’t know you or each other…and the information isn’t accessible in any public place – you pay attention. You believe. You take action.
Let me restate that this was in 2018. At a high level, I was told that I would no longer be at my current job in a year (2019). In addition, the “work” that would align with my soul’s purpose would begin after 2020. And even then, it would take some time to both embody and birth this vision into the world. Nothing was going to happen overnight. I was told I would have my own show, be a part of creating all kinds of wellness programming, books and more. They said this is why I came into this lifetime. I was directed to do deep soul work and take intuitive, mediumship and reiki classes. And so I did. Woah. I had no idea I had these abilities…and that we all do. Talk about a new perspective!
When the project that Karen and I were working on didn’t go through, I knew that was my sign to move on. Soon after there were restructuring changes coming to our company. I had the confidence to let it be known that I would welcome being part of upcoming layoffs. I also started talking about my intention to create wellness and spirituality programming to anyone who would listen.
And one of the first people I told…was Karen. It’s a draw-dropping story for another time. The bottomline is that there’s no doubt that Karen and I were supposed to meet exactly when we did in this lifetime and we received clear validation that we would be working together from that day forward.
One of our priorities was to find as many “normal” trusted practitioners and products in the wellness space, so that other people at a crossroads could transform their lives…like I had. We also began to learn the massive amount of wellness information that is available and that keeps on coming. We knew someone needed to sift through it and tell you what you need to know – and we volunteered.
Karen and I launched our Seeking Center podcast during that first week of the Covid lockdown and we haven’t looked back. We’ve talked to and experienced hundreds of experts, practitioners and teachers. We’ve guided many people on their own transformative journeys. We’ve tried all kinds of wellness products and experiences to help ourselves, humanity and the planet. We’ve honed our own intuitive, mediumship and energetic abilities. And we plan on continuing to do this for the rest of our lives – and sharing it all with you!
We also want to stress that while we are always SEEKING, we still live in “reality.” We get the normal day-to-day. We’re finding easy ways, products and resources to help make your real-life every day better. That is what gets us up in the morning and f*ing excited to live!! It is why Seeking Center has been born.
I don’t have time to waste – and you don’t either. While I believe we never really die, we only get ONE life as you are RIGHT NOW. So I ask you to live this life being good to yourself, each other and the planet.
Here’s to becoming more of YOU every day…and learning together. I’m honored and excited to be on this journey with you!
It may be the sign you need each week!
